ADR Registry Takes Land Division Mediation Fortnight Sensitization to Kampala Communities
Judicial Officers from the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Registry today conducted a public sensitisation campaign to raise awareness about the upcoming Land Mediation Settlement Fortnight scheduled to run from 29 June to 10 July 2026.
The exercise was flagged off by Lady Justice Dr. Christine Echookit of the Land Division at TWED Towers.
The team traversed Nakawa, Banda, Kireka, Kyaliwajjala, Kira, Kasangati, Kumbuzi, Kalerwe and Wandegeya markets, engaging members of the public on the benefits of mediation and distributing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials on mediation and the forthcoming Settlement Fortnight.
Members of the public welcomed the initiative, expressed concerns over persistent land disputes and called for more community engagements to enable timely resolution of their grievances by the relevant authorities.
The sensitisation drive was led by HW Justine Atukwasa, Registrar in charge of the ADR Registry; HW Godfrey Kaweesa, Deputy Registrar ADR; HW Christine Namutebi of the Land Division; and HW Daniel Lubowa, Assistant Registrar Mediation, with support from Mr. Deo Akugizibwe, Communications Officer, and Mr. Emmanuel Akatwijuka of the ADR Registry.
